Boutique Firm Matches Biglaw Market Salaries And Bonuses -- But Only For Certain Class Years
This boutique law firm is willing to pump up associate compensation on a Biglaw scale, but only some associates will be benefactors.
Big money isn’t just for Biglaw, because boutique firms are getting in on the compensation action too. Yet another successful boutique law firm is making sure that its associates will have a very happy holiday season by paying out market salaries come 2024 and year-end bonus matches — but only through certain class years. Which firm could it be?
Say hello to the Houston litigation boutique of Ahmad, Zavitsanos & Mensing P.C., a firm that’s more commonly known as “AZA.” We’ve confirmed that the firm will match the Cravath salary and bonus scales for its first- through fourth-year associates, meaning these are the salaries associates at the firm will see, come 2024:
- Class of 2023 – $225,000
- Class of 2022 – $235,000
- Class of 2021 – $260,000
- Class of 2020 – $310,000
This is what year-end bonuses will look like at the firm:
- Class of 2023 – $15,000
- Class of 2022 – $20,000
- Class of 2021 – $30,000
- Class of 2020 – $57,500
Elder class years at the firm will also have the chance to receive salary and bonus matches, but they must be strong performers to do so (e.g., they must be able to lead a case; they must have sufficient development as a trial lawyer; they must manage clients well; and they must work hard).
