State Seeking Death Penalty For Death Of Florida Attorney
Authorities say the crime was 'especially heinous, atrocious, or cruel.'
Florida plastic surgeon, Tomasz Roman Kosowski, stands accused of the first-degree murder of attorney Steven Cozzi. Cozzi disappeared from his office, leaving behind his wallet, car, car keys, and cell phone. He was never spotted leaving the office building. Surveillance footage and blood evidence from a bathroom in Cozzi’s office connect Kosowski to the apparent death.
As reported by Law & Crime, prosecutors recently announced they’d be seeking the death penalty:

The state maintains that the plastic surgeon killed lawyer Steven Cozzi for pecuniary gain, that the crime was “especially heinous, atrocious, or cruel,” and that the homicide “was committed in a cold, calculated, and premeditated manner without any pretense of moral or legal justification.”
After executing a search warrant on Kosowski’s vehicle, police say they found additional evidence:
“During the course of the search, a ballistic vest was found in the trunk of the vehicle with a substantial amount of blood located on it,” officers wrote.
There was a bag on the passenger floor board that contained masks, a taser, brass knuckles, duct tape, the sedative succinylcholine, and syringes, investigators said.
Cozzi represented the defendant in a case where Kosowski sued his former employer, Dunedin Surgical Consultants.
